The Confronting Racism Coalition (CRC) strongly condemns the recent act of violence and the racist and threatening flyer that recently circulated in our community. The language promotes racial division, intimidation, and the targeting of people because of their race. The seeds of racism within the human heart are sown within the soil of hate, and the threats of violence it produces have no place in York or anywhere in Pennsylvania.

We also reject the attempt to use an alleged incident involving an individual as justification for blaming, threatening, or targeting an entire racial or ethnic community. Individual acts of wrongdoing must be addressed through evidence, investigation, due process, and the law—not collective blame, vigilantism, or racial retaliation.

Our community must not allow hate to become normalized. We call upon residents, faith leaders, community organizations, elected officials, and law enforcement to stand together against intimidation and racial violence while protecting the rights and safety of every resident.

Our initial research did not find a specific group associated with the Telegram link listed on the flyer. As a proactive step, we filed a report with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which maintains hate group and incident trackers, in hopes of identifying the individuals and/or organizations behind the flyers.

We are also in communication with our equity partners throughout York and will work collaboratively to ensure united messaging.

As a community organization, the CRC:

1) Will confront racism.

2) Will reject racial hatred.

3) Will stand against threats and violence.

4) Will work together for a community where every person can live with dignity, safety, and respect.

Sincerely,

The Confronting Racism Coalition (CRC)

“Confront Racism. Challenge Hate. Build Community.”
